Environs Inc was the Landscape Architect for the planning and design of the first six trailheads for the built portion of the Louisville Loop Trail, a planned 100 mile pedestrian loop around the Louisville Metro area. These trailheads play an important role in providing both access to the Loop and orientation for the users acting as key portals to the overall trail system and providing many needed amenities.
Each of the trailheads features special paving to interpret the physiographic region in which it is located as well as: orientation signage, benches, bike racks, parking, and possible restroom facilities. The overall goal of furthering the design of these six trailheads is to show users what the Loop will look like when the Louisville Loop Wayfinding master plan is fully implemented.
