Environs Inc was the principal design consultant for the preparation of a master plan to guide the development of the Mahoney Property in southeastern Jefferson County, KY.
We developed three design options for the recreational use of this property, as follows:
- Concept 1: A Passive Park that retains the agricultural nature of the property.
- Concept 2: A Passive / Active park that blends the agricultural nature of the property with more active uses.
- Concept 3: An Intensive Sports Complex.
A final master plan was developed after hearing public feedback and holding several meetings and discussions between the design team and Metro Parks. The guiding principles for development of the final plan include providing adequate facilities for sports play and recreational opportunities for the disabled while preserving open space, natural areas, and the rural character of the property.
The final plan has many similar features to Concept Plan 2 but they have been developed and designed further. The estimated cost for construction is $5,300,000.00.
